A Gloomy News Cycle

It's been a rough few years, and the news cycle hasn't been very positive lately. Geo-politically and economically, it's been a bit rough, with recession looming and inflation still high. Some examples of this include:

  • The UK economy has been stagnating for two years and was in recession for the second half of 2023.
  • Households are living through the worst inflation rates in generations, with inflation remaining high at double the official target rate.
  • Construction of affordable homes in London has ground to a halt.

The fight against climate change is also bleak, though there is hope for the future.

Despite the gloom, there are silver linings to this dark cloud. The greatest architects of Britain's self-harm are no longer fully in power, and the virus that was responsible for so much misery is a fading memory. And who knows, maybe we'll learn from this journey and become wiser?
