Anthony Edwards wants comparisons to Michael Jordan to stop, calls the six-time champion 'the greatest of all time'

Minnesota Timberwolves star wants comparisons to Michael Jordan to stop

Anthony Edwards, the young star of the Minnesota Timberwolves, has expressed his displeasure with the comparisons that have been drawn between him and the legendary Michael Jordan.

Speaking to FOX Sports reporter Melissa Rohlin, Edwards made it clear that he did not appreciate the comparisons, stating, "He's the greatest of all time. I can't be compared to him."

The 22-year-old Edwards is known for his impressive basketball skills, including high-flying dunks and a confident playing style, that have drawn similarities to Jordan.

Analysis and Player Comparisons Agree

As Edwards noted, such comparisons have been made not just by fans, but also by analysts and players alike.

On Wednesday, Timberwolves guard Mike Conley, Edwards' teammate, told NBA analysts on TNT's Inside the NBA that Edwards reminded him of a young Jordan.

"He's unbelievable," Conley said. "I think more than anything with him has been his mentality. I've never met a guy or been a teammate with a guy who believes more in himself than Anthony Edwards."

Even Jordan himself, speaking to FS1's Chris Broussard, confirmed that there were similarities between Edwards' game and his own.

"Jordan said there are similarities in their games," said Broussard. "He agreed. So, if Jordan says there are similarities, there are similarities."

Edwards Focused on the Prize

Despite the similarities, Edwards prefers to focus on the court, where he has been playing at an elite level.

During the regular season, Edwards averaged 25.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, shooting an impressive 46.1% from the field and 35.7% from beyond the three-point line.

In the playoffs, Edwards has been raising the bar, averaging an impressive 33.4 points and 7.8 rebounds per game, while shooting 53.2% from the field and 43.6% from three-point range.

The Timberwolves are 5-0 in the postseason, and Edwards is determined to continue improving and helping his team succeed.

With his focus on team success and refusing to accept comparisons to the legendary Jordan, Edwards has certainly caught the attention of basketball fans.
