Domain Seller Sedo Posts Record Sales for July: Guess Who Is on Top
Germany-based domain marketplace Sedo posted a record $58 million USD in sales in July, with travel-related domains making a notable rebound.
The ten highest sales of the month included domains for Expedia, VRBO, and Booking.com, among others, reflecting a rebound in travel searches, bookings, and related domain inquiries. Internet travel bookings are expected to generate around $818 billion USD by the end of 2022.
According to Sedo, the domain market shows signs of turning away from short-term hype driven by the pandemic and toward long-term growth driven by sustainable business models. In a release, Sedo CEO Tobias Flaitz states:
"The travel domain market is back with a bang. Not only have travel domains recovered in value, but we have also seen a significant uptick in sales volumes and new interests from investors…The strongest sales reflect the new realities of post-pandemic travel — online, localized, and flexible bookings."

- REI.market: $70,000 USD to an investor
Sedo reports overall sales increased by 15% compared to June and by 47% compared to July 2021. The average sales price was $18,369 USD, a 4% increase from June and a 23% increase year-over-year.
"The overall growth in our industry is being driven by well-established domain investors, while the speculative investor is still on the sidelines…The domain market shows signs of turning away from short-term hype driven by the pandemic and toward long-term growth driven by sustainable business models," said Flaitz.
