Bob Odenkirk will be back in the sequel to the John Wick-like action thriller "Nobody", with production beginning this August. In addition, Timo Tjahjanto will be taking over as the director of "Nobody 2." Connie Nielsen will also return alongside Odenkirk.

Variety reports that Universal Pictures will begin production on the anticipated sequel this summer in advance of its planned release.

The first movie, released in 2021, saw Odenkirk starring as Hutch Mansell, an understated husband and father-of-two who chances to unleash his dark secrets and lethal skills when his home is invaded.

The sequel's script will be written by Derek Kolstad, Aaron Rabin, Bob Odenkirk, and Umair Aleem.

Variety also mentioned that the first film's director, Ilya Naishuller, will not be returning for the sequel.

Who is Timo Tjahjanto?

Timo Tjahjanto is an Indonesian filmmaker whose work includes several action genres. He has directed and written films such as "The Night Comes for Us" and "May the Devil Take You," and also directed segments of the segmented horror films "V/H/S" and "V/H/S/94."

Tjahjanto will be taking over to direct "Nobody 2," marking his first major franchise project.

Connie Nielsen returns to the franchise as Hutch's wife, Becca.

What do we know about the plot of "Nobody 2"?

Although the first movie's plot centered on Hutch's explosively violent revenge on the perpetrators who attacked his home, it's believed that the sequel will delve into Hutch's past, which may hold more secrets and latent skills that he can utilize.

It is also expected that the sequel will expand on the action-packed sequences, with Tjahjanto's penchant for violence and fight choreography.

With a planned release in mind, fans won't have to wait too long to see what unfolds in the fiery footsteps of the first "Nobody" film.

Mark your calendars: Nobody 2 is set to be released on March 31, 2024.
