The Raids Begin

In late March 2024, Pandabuy suffered a database leak compromising the data of roughly 1.3 million users.

Leaked information included user IDs, full names, phone numbers, email addresses, IP addresses, home addresses, and order data.

On April 13th, 2024, World Trademark Review reported that Pandabuy was raided by Chinese police following legal action from 16 brand owners.

The raid initiated on April 11th, 2024, focused on six warehouses owned by Pandabuy. British authorities also conducted similar raids in the U.K.

Since its launch in 2022, Pandabuy became viral in the west on TikTok and Reddit's /r/FashionReps community, leading to its international success and profits.

A video posted by YouTuber Jei on April 13th, 2024, received 23,000 views in three days.

Streetwear YouTuber Elliot Page covered the Pandabuy raid on April 14th, 2024, in a video that received 78,000 views in two days.

TikToker @mypandabuyistrash discussed the raid on April 14th, 2024, speculating that buyers were not the priority and that Nike was likely one of the 16 brands involved. The video received 3.8 million plays and 370,300 likes.

Jokingly, TikToker @goat.pandabuy_finds2 posted a Slow Fade-In meme on April 14th, 2024, about a warehouse worker hiding in a customer's package to avoid the raid. The video received 735,200 plays and 110,900 likes in two days.

Pandabuy's Company Response

On April 15th, 2024, Pandabuy confirmed that the company was facing legal trouble and pledged to "overcome the difficulty" amid the situation being "challenging."
