Protesters, focus on Trump at Democratic event

On March 30, 2024, The New York Times posted an article titled "4 Presidents, 2 Events and a Preview of Campaign Clashes to Come." The article discussed the focus of attention on Donald Trump at a recent event attended by three other living Presidents.

The article cited a comment made by Obama, who chided protesters, stating, "You can't just talk and not listen. That's what the other side does." This phrase appears to be a dig at Trump, who is well-known for his propensity for talking rather than listening to others. The article also mentions Biden's standard line, "It's understandable Israel has such a profound anger and Hamas is still there. But we must, in fact, stop the effort that is resulting in significant deaths of innocent civilians, particularly children."

The article continues by discussing the aviator sunglasses donged by the three Presidents on stage and Biden's assertion that he loves Ray-Ban sunglasses and ice cream.

The comments below the article on the Free Republic website range from discussing Trump to remarks directing criticism at the other three Presidents. One user, Jonty30, comments, "Biden thinks he was born to run, but he can barely walk." Another user, MtnClimber, writes, "Its for the children!" and inserts a smiley face. Yet another, BiteYourSelf, quotes the opening line of the George Orwell novel, Nineteen Eighty-Four, writing, "It was a bright cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen."

Other users commented on the absence of former President Trump, with Wondering why Wont join them, and bigbob noting, "Or protesters, complaining that Springsteen's (Springstein?) drummer is Jewish?"
