Sensex, Nifty surge to new record highs amid strong foreign fund inflows

Stock markets rise on 08 April 2024: Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty surged to new record highs on Monday, driven by positive global cues and strong foreign fund inflows. The BSE Sensex rose 494.28 points, or 0.67%, to close at 74,742.50, with a record intraday high of 74,869.30. Similarly, the NSE Nifty climbed 152.60 points, or 0.68%, to 22,666.30, hitting a lifetime high of 22,697.30 during the day. The rally was supported by buying in index heavyweight Reliance Industries. Major gainers from the Sensex pack included Maruti, Mahindra & Mahindra, NTPC, JSW Steel, and Reliance Industries, while Nestle, Wipro, TCS, HDFC Bank, Titan, HCL, and Infosys were among the losers. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) bought equities worth ₹1,659.27 crore on Friday.
