Stock Market Update: Sensex, Nifty Close at Record Highs, Advance 0.72%, 0.74% Respectively

The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 closed at record highs on Thursday. The Sensex advanced 568.93 points, or 0.72%, to settle above the historic 79k level at 79,243.18, while the broader Nifty50 climbed 175.70 points, or 0.74%, to record 24,044.50. Market analysts anticipate continued bullish momentum, despite potential FII selling amid rising US bond yields.

The Indian rupee appreciated 13 paise to settle at 83.44 (provisional) against the US dollar on Thursday, supported by a positive trend in equity markets and favorable domestic macroeconomic profile. Forex traders said the strength of the American currency in the overseas market and US dollar demand from oil marketing companies capped sharp gains for the local unit.

Major gainers on the NSE include Grasim Industries (2.87%), LTIMindtree (2.67%), Wipro (2.71%), Ultratech Cement (2.63%), and Dr Reddy's Laboratories (2.14%). In addition, Shriram Finance (-1.17%), L&T (-1%), Bajaj Auto (-0.97%), Coal India (-0.84%), and Bajaj Finance (-0.64%) were major losers. The major gainers on the NSE include Grasim Industries (2.87%), LTIMindtree (2.67%), Wipro (2.71%), Ultratech Cement (2.63%), and Dr Reddy's Laboratories (2.14%). Nifty IT increased by 1.57% to trade at 35,962.30. Nifty Bank slipped 0.03% to 52,856.00, and PSU Bank by 0.99% to 7,296.00. The major gainers on the NSE include Grasim Industries (2.87%), LTIMindtree (2.67%), Wipro (2.71%), Ultratech Cement (2.63%), and Dr Reddy's Laboratories (2.14%).
