This Weekend's Theater Releases: Despicable Me 4, Ti West's MaXXXine, and More

It's officially summer, and with the season comes an abundance of new film releases. This weekend, minions take over theaters yet again with the release of Despicable Me 4. For those more into horror, Ti West's MaXXXine hits screens, starring Mia Goth, Elizabeth Debicki, and Moses Sumney.

Here are some more films to consider checking out this weekend:

  • Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F: This is the fourth film in the Beverly Hills Cop series reuniting Eddie Murphy and Judge Reinhold. Axel Foley returns to Beverly Hills after his daughter's life is threatened. The film is currently streaming on Netflix.
  • Kill: This Indian action film follows a pair of commandos on a train trip to New Delhi who must face an army of invading bandits. Kill premiered at TIFF 2023 and is now showing in theaters.
  • Space Cadet: This comedy follows Rex, a Florida party girl who becomes the unlikely hope for NASA's space program after a fluke puts her in training with other candidates who have better resumes, but not her smarts, heart, and moxie.   • The Nature of Love: This French comedy-drama follows Sophia, who abandons herself to her great romantic impulses after meeting Sylvain, despite their differences in class. It's currently showing in theaters.
  • The Secret Art of Human Flight: This comedy-drama follows a grieving widower turned to a mysterious self-help book from the dark web written by an eccentric guru, promising to unlock the power to fly. The film stars Paul Raci, Grant Rosenmayer, Lucy DeVito, and Nican Robinson. It premiered at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival and is now showing in theaters.
